Our Poetry Footprints – Sometimes a chanced encounter, a scene, a remark during our travels can spark our creative juices or send us down a rabbit-hole of artistic pursuits. Because travels may not necessarily be merely a physical act of visiting a destination, it also has the power to evoke within us the stirrings of emotions so strong we want to leave other footprints such as this.
The Mischievous Kid of Red and Blue – A Poem
Purple is the stain left behind on your tongue when the jellybeans are gone.
You can’t help but giggle even after the last sweet bite.
For it is the brilliant pop of colour,
In the dense forest of boring greens and browns.
You see it where lavenders, lilacs and wisteria bloom
and leave their lingering scent behind.
Purple is the colour of royalty, wisdom and creativity.
And also the blanket that soothes us
when the sun waves goodnight.
It does not ask you to choose between Red or Blue
But simply to enjoy it for what it is.
Oh, what will the colour Purple get up to next?
A candy cane? Bubble gum? Or a new delight?
